You don’t think you’ll need it, until you do.
Like anyone, I hated paying insurance premiums every month. But, something told me not to cancel my SPOT insurance. Let me tell you, I am SO glad I didn’t. One day my dog decided to eat a cardboard box while we were in the middle of a move. He has never done anything like this. Well, cardboard does not digest. He ended up with a wad of congealed cardboard that wouldn’t come up and wouldn’t pass through. Nearly $5000 for surgery and treatment and he is just fine. What a huge stressor this would have been without SPOT insurance. This incident was the first time I actually had to file a claim and I was honestly nervous about how it would go. But it was so smooth. I filed the claim through the app, attached the required receipts and proof of treatment, and within about a week the reimbursement hit my bank account. It was so easy. I will forever recommend pet insurance. Hopefully you never need them but the peace of mind knowing SPOT has your back if the time comes is 100% worth the monthly premiums.

finally !!! A company that stands behind what the say . my dog got sick and it cost me . almost 4,000 dollars to get her well . Spot reinbrust me more than half of that money back and did it in less than a month after me filing the claim . and they did two follow up e-mails to make sure I was happy with the amount.

Pet Insurance FAQs
Have questions about pet insurance and how it works? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
When is the ideal time to get pet insurance for my pet?
Plans provided by Spot can insure puppies and kittens 8 weeks and older. We recommend that pets be insured while they are still young; before they develop any “pre-existing conditions”.
Can I get money back for my pet’s routine teeth cleanings?
Routine teeth cleanings are not covered under either of Spot’s base plans. To be reimbursed for the cost of a routine cleaning, you’ll need to have opted into a preventive care add-on. This can be purchased for little extra cost per month.
Do Spot plans cover exam fees?
Spot’s accident-only and accident & illness base plans will cover exam fees for covered conditions. This coverage does not include the cost of routine wellness exams. For cash back on these services, policyholders can purchase an optional preventive care add-on for a small fee.
What do Spot Pet Insurance plans cover?
Spot Pet Insurance offers both Accident-Only and Accident & Illness plans and pets can receive treatment from any licensed vet in the United States or Canada. Spot plans offer an unlimited annual limit option, no per incident caps, and no lifetime caps.

How do I determine if my pet has a pre-existing condition?
A condition is “pre-existing” if it occurs or becomes symptomatic before coverage begins or during the waiting period. The condition can be considered pre-existing regardless of if it has been diagnosed or treated by a vet; all that matters is when the condition occurred or first began to show symptoms. Pre-existing conditions are not covered under Spot pet insurance plans.
