1. With Spot Pet Insurance plans, you can get your dog or cat’s exam fees for eligible conditions covered.
We’re committed to helping ensure that your pet gets the care they need when they need it — which is why you can rest assured that exam fees and vet visits for eligible conditions are covered by pet insurance plans provided by Spot.
2. Spot covers Rx foods and supplements used to treat eligible conditions
Both Spot plans and Healthy Paws plans cover prescription medications used to treat covered conditions, but Healthy Paws plans do not cover Rx foods or supplements used to treat covered conditions. Plans provided by Spot cover Rx foods and supplements used to treat eligible conditions (as long as a food or supplement is prescribed to treat an eligible condition and not for general health or weight maintenance).
3. Spot Pet Insurance provides Preventive Care Coverage.
Spot Pet Insurance offers an optional preventive care add-on that can be used to cover the routine veterinary costs that come with having a pet. Annual wellness exams, dental cleanings, vaccinations, and other services can be covered under a preventive care add-on. Healthy Paws does not offer preventive care coverage.
4. Spot plans cover behavioral problems.
Spot Pet Insurance accident & illness plans include coverage for behavioral problems.
5. If you enroll more than one pet, you get a discount with Spot Plans.
Unlike Healthy Paws plans, if you add on more than one pet in your family, you will be able to get a multi-pet discount. Spot Pet Insurance plans provide a 10 percent multi-pet discount for all additional pets.

I highly recommend Spot!
I purchased accident and illness insurance for my dog in 2024. I didn't have any claims that year. However, this year I have already filed 2 substantial claims. The first was for a cardiologist evaluation and EKG, totally over $1,000. Spot allow all of that claim and reimbursed me about $360 ($500 satisfied my deductible and I received 80% of the remainder, as set forth in my insurance terms). The next claim was for a tooth extraction and dental cleaning for a total of over $1,600. Except for about $5 for "pet waste/taxes," Spot again allowed all the charges. I just got a check for about $1,330! (Numbers aren't precise but the refund is 80% of the allowable costs.) Filing claims is easy as is providing the additional information they may request. Both claims were paid within a couple of weeks. On 1 occasion, I had to reach out to their customer service and this too was a very favorable experience. While the premiums are high, the cost is offset if your pet has an accident or illness. I very much recommend Spot for your piece of mind!

Complete information makes all the difference!
I've had great results obtaining reimbursement when I am sure to submit the past 6 months of vet records along with invoices and claim information. It didn't go as well with the approach of "Don't have it? No worries, we will reach out to your vet." Those claims got denied most of the time. So, when you submit everything up front, and each item as its own claim, they do deliver and I'm happy to say that I've renewed the annual plan for both of my dogs.
