What is the waiting period?

Waiting periods begin the day after you purchase your policy and last until your coverage's effective date. Typically, any illness, disease, injury, or change to your pet's health that first occurs or shows symptoms before coverage is effective is considered pre-existing and is not eligible for coverage. With a Spot plan you can take your pet to any vet in the U.S. or Canada, including specialists and emergency clinics. Spot plans do not use networks, giving pet parents the freedom to select the best clinic for their pet. Spot offers comprehensive coverage options for unexpected accidents and illnesses. You can also add-on Platinum preventive for coverage on eligible spaying or neutering costs

Coverage for our optional preventive care add-ons begins just 24 hours after purchase, allowing you to use your preventive benefits almost immediately. Once you visit your vet, submit a claim via our app or through the member center. Make sure you include any necessary documentation. Most claims are processed in less than 3 days, and reimbursements will be paid either via direct deposit or a check, whichever you prefer.
