Accident-Only Plan Options

When you enroll in pet insurance, the biggest decision is which kind of plan you’ll choose. Every provider varies in terms of what kind of plans they offer and what is covered under each. Most offer an Accident & Illness plan; some offer Accident-only plans.

Many factors can influence your plan of choice, but having diverse and customizable options is helpful for finding exactly the right fit for you.

At Spot Pet Insurance, our highly customizable pet insurance plan options include an Accident-only plan option for those looking to spend less on premiums and get coverage for unexpected accidents only.

With MetLife, there is no Accident-only plan option available.

Microchipping coverage: Spot Pet Plans vs. MetLife Plans

Microchipping is a helpful way to locate and reunite with your pet should they become lost, which is why we believe it’s essential for pet parents.

Microchip implantation coverage is included with base plans offered by Spot Pet Insurance. Plans provided by MetLife only include coverage for microchipping as an optional add-on for an extra cost.

Base Spot Plans Include Coverage for Rx Foods Prescribed to Treat Covered Conditions

Base plans provided by Spot Pet Insurance include coverage for Rx foods and supplements when prescribed by a licensed vet to treat covered conditions (excluding general maintenance or weight management).

MetLife does offer coverage for Rx food, but only through add-ons for an extra cost.

Base Spot Plans Cover Behavioral Conditions

Spot's base plans include coverage for behavioral conditions.

But with a MetLife policy, you would need to purchase the wellness rider for behavioral conditions to be covered.

Multi-pet Discount Differences

Pet Insurance plans provided by Spot have a 10 percent multi-pet discount for each and every additional pet enrolled.

Big pet families are full of love, and sometimes they need extra love to help with the extra costs of keeping them well and healthy!

MetLife plans also offer multi-pet discounts. However, the multi-pet discount amount varies based on the number of pets you enroll.
