October marks Disability Awareness Month, and this year, Spot Pet Insurance is proud to announce a new partnership with Guiding Eyes for the Blind - an organization that has provided more than 10,000 guide dog teams to people with vision loss since 1954.
Through this collaboration, Spot is celebrating the power of pets to transform lives, while helping raise awareness about safety, independence, and the special bond between people and their dogs.
Supporting a Life-Changing Mission
Guiding Eyes for the Blind is dedicated to connecting exceptional dogs with individuals for greater independence - and provides all services completely free of charge. It can cost up to $50,000 to train and care for a guide dog annually, but thanks to generous donors and volunteers, Guiding Eyes has been able to provide these services at no cost for more than 70 years.
This October, Spot is making a $5,000 donation to support their mission and the many programs that help guide dog teams thrive.
Halloween Fun with a Purpose
Halloween is one of the busiest, and sometimes riskiest, nights of the year for pets. Together with Guiding Eyes, Spot is creating fun and educational moments to help pet parents keep their furry family members safe and comfortable:
Halloween Costume Contest – One lucky pet will win a Spot swag box and gift card to celebrate the spooky season in style.
Halloween Safety Blog – Featuring expert quotes from a Guiding Eyes trainer on how to help pets feel at ease in costumes while keeping safety top of mind.
Q&A with a Graduate Team – (Coming soon!) A look into the powerful partnership between a guide dog and their handler, highlighting the real-world impact of Guiding Eyes.
What’s in a Name? A Puppy Named by Spot
As part of this partnership, Spot will also sponsor the naming of a Guiding Eyes puppy. This symbolic gesture represents Spot’s commitment to pets at every stage of life - from the playful puppy years to becoming a life-changing guide for someone with vision loss.
About Guiding Eyes for the Blind
Since 1954, Guiding Eyes for the Blind has been a leader in guide dog training and placement, graduating more than 10,000 teams of people with vision loss and their dogs. With nearly 150 employees, more than 2,000 volunteers, and world-class training facilities across New York, Guiding Eyes sets the standard for guide dog excellence worldwide. And thanks to donor support, all services are provided completely free of charge.
