Spot Pet Insurance plans have a 14-day waiting period for orthopedic conditions

For the accident & illness plans provided by Spot, the waiting period for all conditions is 14 days. That means there is a 14-day waiting period for orthopedic conditions too.

Plans provided by Geico have a 180-day waiting period for orthopedic conditions, like hip dysplasia. You have to wait six months for your orthopedic conditions coverage to start. However, you can possibly reduce the waiting period to 2 days for orthopedic injuries and 14 days for orthopedic illnesses by completing a waiver process. To complete the waiver process, you will need to take your pup to a vet for an orthopedic exam. If the vet doesn’t find any signs of an orthopedic condition, then your waiting period will be reduced. You will need to pay for that vet visit out of pocket unless you purchase a wellness plan or other type of plan from Geico that covers the exam.

Spot plans include coverage for microchip implantation

Although we know your pet loves you, we also know that your pet might wander off on an adventure by themselves. Your pet might get lost on such a journey, and a well-meaning soul could take them to the nearest vet or animal shelter to help your furry family member find their way home.

Because of situations like these, all core plans offered by Spot Pet cover microchip implantation. You do not need to purchase an add-on to get the coverage. We want to help ensure that you and your pet can be reunited as a happy family as quickly as possible. With a microchip, anyone with a scanner can learn your information to return your dog or cat to you.

Core pet insurance plans provided by Geico do not cover microchip implantation. However, you can get coverage for microchip implantation if you purchase the wellness plan add-on offered by Geico. If you want microchip implantation covered, you have to pay a little extra for the additional wellness plan.

Spot Pet Insurance provides plans for seniors

Many pet insurance plans will place an upper age limit on new enrollments. The older a dog or cat gets, the more health issues they will likely end up having. Older pets are especially prone to illnesses.

With pet insurance plans provided by Spot, you can sign up for a plan even if your pet is getting on in years. We want your furry companion to be comfortable and enjoy life in their old age, so the accident and illness plans we offer don’t have an upper age limit.

Geico’s Pet Insurance will provide an accident-only plan for your elderly pet. However, if your pet is over 15 years old, they can’t be enrolled in a new accident & illness plan.

If you are the proud owner of a senior pup or kitty and need a new insurance plan, they can enroll in an accident & illness plan provided by Spot. You won’t be able to enroll your pet in an accident & illness plan provided by Geico if your pet is older than 15 years old.

Spot Plans Cover the Cost of Prescription Medication and Supplements

Plans from Spot Pet Insurance cover the cost of prescription medications and supplements if they are prescribed by a licensed vet to treat a covered condition.

With a Geico plan, you will have to purchase an add-on for your policy for prescription medications to be covered. Prescription supplements are not covered by Geico plans.
