Upper Age Limits for New Enrollments

Before diving into other factors, if you’re a parent of an older pet, your pet may not qualify to enroll in Accident & Illness pet insurance plans provided by USAA. If your pet is 15 years old, or older, you will only have the option to enroll that pet in an Accident-only plan.

At Spot Pet Insurance, we know that older dogs and cats tend to experience more accidents and illnesses. Plans provided by Spot don’t have upper age limits.

Microchip Implantation Coverage

Microchipping technology helps pet parents find and reunite with their pets if their pet becomes lost. Microchip implants are covered by base plans provided by Spot.

With plans provided by USAA, microchip implantation coverage is only included with an added Wellness Rewards plan, that you can add to your base plan for an additional cost.

Spot's Base Plans Cover Exam Fees for Covered Conditions

Spot's base plans offer coverage for exam fees for covered conditions. With a plan from USAA, policyholders would need to pay for an add-on in order to get similar coverage.

Coverage for Rx Food and Supplements Prescribed to Treat Covered Conditions

Base plans provided by Spot include coverage for Rx foods and supplements when prescribed by a licensed vet to treat covered conditions (not for general maintenance or weight management).

For similar coverage with plans provided by USAA, you’ll need to purchase the added Wellness Rewards plan.

Tucker's Road to Recovery

When emotional support dog Tucker experienced a life-threatening injury to his neck, he needed extensive treatment. His pet parent Kim was able to choose the treatment option that would provide Tucker with the best quality of life because of the financial support provided by Tucker's Spot plan.

Cost of Treatment: $4,305

Spot Plan Reimbursed: $3,874.505
